PATIENT SAFETY

One Patient – One Instrument According to the CDC...
A single-use instrument, also known as a disposable instrument, is intended for use on one patient during a single procedure. It is not intended to be reprocessed or reused on another patient. Using single-use instruments improves patient safety by eliminating the risk of patient-to-patient contamination because the item is discarded after use. Any single-use device or instrument used during surgical or clinic procedures such as gauze, irrigating syringes, needles and scalpel blades, should be sterile at the time of use.
